Five Claude features you should know if you use the AI

The tech site MakeUseOf points to a number of so-called "Skills" in the AI chatbot Claude that can save users time and make the answers more useful. Here are five of them.

Claude is an AI chatbot from the company Anthropic, similar to ChatGPT. One of the newer features is called "Skills." It is a kind of predefined instruction you can give Claude, so the AI automatically follows a particular approach when it encounters a particular type of task. Instead of writing the same long message every time, you can build the feature in once and reuse it.

The tech site MakeUseOf has gathered five examples of such features that it says are worth knowing.

The first is called "Superpowers" and makes sure Claude doesn't just jump straight into writing code. Instead, the AI first asks clarifying questions, makes a plan and breaks the task into smaller pieces before getting started.

"frontend-slides" is used to create presentations. Here, Claude writes the code behind the slides itself instead of using fixed templates, which gives more freedom in design and layout.

"Codebase to Course" turns an entire code project into a course with explanations, overviews of how the parts fit together, and small quizzes. It is intended for developers who need to get to grips with other people's code.

"Skill Seekers" can take documentation from, for example, GitHub, PDF files, videos or Notion and turn it into a structured feature that Claude can then use as a reference.

Finally, there is "grill-me," which thoroughly questions a project idea before you start building it. The feature looks for unclear requirements and hidden assumptions, so you avoid spending time on something that was misunderstood from the start.

What the five features have in common is that they try to solve a well-known problem: that AI chatbots often guess their way forward and rush into action instead of asking about the task first.
