OpenAI models headed to Google Cloud enterprise customers

Google Cloud has announced that three of OpenAI's GPT-6 models are coming to the company's AI platform. For now, they are open only to select companies in a closed testing phase.

Companies that use Google Cloud will soon be able to choose OpenAI's AI models directly in Google's own platform. Google Cloud announced this on October 21, 2026.
There are three models: GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna. They are coming to Google's AI platform and to Model Garden, a kind of catalog of AI models that companies can use and build on. According to Google, the catalog includes more than 200 models, among them Gemini and Claude.
Three models for different tasks
Astra is aimed at demanding tasks such as coding, computer control, professional work and scientific research.
Google Cloud describes Sol as a model with nearly the same level of intelligence as Astra, but at a lower price. It is aimed at agentic coding, computer control and professional work. Agentic means that the AI can carry out a series of steps on its own to solve a task.
According to Google, Luna is a fast, inexpensive model for everyday tasks at large scale. The descriptions of intelligence and price are Google's own and have not been independently tested.
For now, only for select customers
The models are now rolling out in private preview, meaning a closed testing phase for select enterprise customers. Others can sign up through a form. Google's post does not say when the models will become broadly available.
Access is through APIs (technical connections between programs) and through Codex CLI and Codex Desktop. Google plans to bring the models to Gemini for Business and Google Antigravity soon as well. The Zero Data Retention and Confidential Compute features have been announced as coming.
One invoice and data under control
The OpenAI models are billed through Google Cloud Marketplace on a single consolidated invoice. They draw on the customer's existing cloud commitments and count toward Flexible Savings Plans across model providers.
Google Cloud says customer data is kept within the customer's defined perimeter and is not used to train foundation models.
Google Cloud claims to be the only hyperscale cloud provider that offers all three leading closed model families: Gemini, Claude and GPT. That is Google's own claim.
Michael Gerstenhaber, VP at Google Cloud, is quoted by Unite.ai as saying that customers get the flexibility to run agentic workloads across their choice of models and infrastructure. Yashodha Bhavnani of Box says the company can give customers access to OpenAI's frontier models together with Google Cloud's security and compliance.
