Piktochart: Cheap to try, but thin AI help with content

AI-generated from the sources listed, with automated source checks.

According to a review in Alphr, Piktochart's editing tools are fine, but the AI part disappoints. According to an industry overview from DesignRush, most AI infographic tools also require a fair amount of manual work.

An AI tool for infographics should save you time when you build a presentation. Alphr has tested Piktochart and is not impressed with the AI part. The review was written by Dominic Anderson and is dated October 30, 2026.

What can Piktochart do?

Piktochart can summarize content and generate images with the models GPT Image, Imagen 4 and Nano Banana Pro. The program also has charts and graphs that can be customized, and maps of countries and regions. It also comes with business templates, for example maps, brochures, résumés and pitch decks.

The free plan gives you 60 AI credits a month and two PNG downloads. The Pro plan costs 15 dollars a month with monthly billing and 10 dollars a month with annual billing. Business costs 20 dollars a month or 17 dollars a month with annual billing. Enterprise has custom pricing and advanced branding. Prices may have changed.

The criticism: Small text fields and thin answers

The reviewer criticizes the text fields for being so small that it is impractical to paste in large amounts of text. The text therefore has to be prepared in advance. Image generation also uses up the AI credits quickly, and the AI has no access to current information.

According to the reviewer, the AI's answers are so watered down that they contain almost nothing. The editing tools are adequate, but the AI performance disappoints.

The reviewer recommends creating the content in other research tools and then importing the text into Piktochart for the design. According to the review, the low price makes it worth trying if you already have finished presentation content.

What about other tools?

The review covers only Piktochart. In an industry overview, DesignRush has reviewed nine tools, including Canva, Venngage, Napkin AI, Gamma, Adobe Express, Visme, Infogram and Genially. According to the overview, most require manual data entry and lack a live connection to spreadsheets. Prompts, meaning the messages you give the AI, need to be refined, and the result has to be edited to fit the brand's look and feel.

DesignRush also claims that the AI tools make visual production 2-5 times faster and can cut design costs by up to 60 percent. The figures have not been independently documented.

Infogram itself describes the tool as able to create an infographic with layout suggestions and chart recommendations from a short description or pasted data. It can also rewrite long paragraphs as bullet points, and the result can be edited afterward. That is the vendor's own description.
