xAI has released a new version of the Grok app for iOS, tailored for companies that use Microsoft's management system Intune to administer employees' apps and data.

xAI, the company behind the AI chatbot Grok, has launched a new app called "Grok for Intune." It is made specifically for companies and organizations that use Microsoft Intune, a tool IT departments use to control which apps employees may install on work phones, and how data may be shared and stored.
The app was released on October 1, 2026, and can be downloaded from the App Store, but it only works if the company's IT department sets it up through the Intune system first.
Same Grok, just with a firewall
In terms of features, it is still the Grok you know: You can ask questions, search the web, use the image and video generator Grok Imagine, talk to the bot via the voice feature and use the camera to show the AI what you are looking at.
What's new is the security layer around it. The app respects the company's rules on whether data from the conversations may be saved or shared, and employees log in with their work email address instead of a personal account. There are also no in-app purchases, so employees cannot pay to upgrade on their own.
Why it matters
Many companies have so far been nervous about letting employees use AI chatbots on work phones, because sensitive information risks being shared outside the company. With an app that is subject to the company's own rules, IT departments can now allow Grok without compromising on security.
The release is part of a bigger push by xAI into the business market. Since the end of 2025, the company has also sold the Grok Business and Grok Enterprise subscriptions, which give companies extra features such as centralized login management and detailed logs of who has used the AI for what.
What it means for you
If you are an employee, it is your IT department that decides whether you can get access to this version of Grok; you cannot download and use it yourself outside the company's system. If you work in IT or security, you can now consider allowing Grok on work phones, because data is handled according to your own rules. If you want to use Grok at work, contact your IT department and ask whether they will set up the app through Intune.
