Anthropic launches Claude tool for financial advisors

The AI company Anthropic has launched "Claude for Financial Advisors," which is meant to take over routine tasks for financial advisors. The industry is split between enthusiasm and skepticism over how much disruption the tool can really create.

Anthropic, the company behind the AI chatbot Claude, has launched a new product aimed at financial advisors and wealth managers. The tool is called "Claude for Financial Advisors" and is meant to help advisors automate research, meeting preparation and documentation, the administrative tasks that normally eat up large parts of an advisor's workday.
The product connects to the systems advisors already use every day, such as custodians, customer relationship management systems (CRM) and planning tools. Partners include Charles Schwab, BlackRock, Addepar, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, Wealthbox, Wealth.com and Vanguard. Schwab will be the first custodian to adopt it, and the goal is to roll out the solution to the more than 16,000 independent investment firms the bank serves.
According to Anthropic, there is good reason to make the industry more efficient. "The actual population of financial advisors isn't very large, and it's actually shrinking," says Jonathan Pelosi, Anthropic's head of financial services. "These people are retiring, there aren't many of them. So good advice is actually not in abundant supply." The idea is that AI can free up time so that each advisor can help more clients.
But important decisions still have to be approved by humans. Investment recommendations, client communication and compliance decisions continue to require human review and approval.
Reactions in the industry are mixed. News of the launch was met with some skepticism among industry analysts, but many providers of wealth management technology shared excitement and enthusiasm. Analyst Alois Pirker warns, however, that Claude may run into the same challenge as other large systems before it: "My sense is that Claude will hit the same problem as Salesforce, namely getting down to the level of specificity that financial advisors need."
For Danish consumers, the development has no immediate impact, but it shows how quickly AI companies like Anthropic are now going after regulated industries such as financial advice, where mistakes can cost clients dearly.
