Gemini apps can now be sent to Google Sites, and Classroom gets a teacher overview
AI-generated from the sources listed.
Google began rolling out two updates on October 19, 2026: you can turn a Gemini app into a Google Sites website in a few clicks, and teachers get an AI overview of how students use Gemini Notebook in Classroom. It may take 1-3 days before the summaries are visible to everyone.

What's new
Google began rolling out two updates on October 19, 2026, and they apply to domains on both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release (Google's two rollout speeds for Workspace).
The first concerns the Gemini app. If you have built an interactive app in Gemini, you can now choose Export and then Google Sites. The app lands as a new private draft of a website. The feature is coming to web, Android and iOS and is available to Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and users with a personal Google account who have access to the Gemini app.
The second update is for schools. The teacher-managed Gemini Notebook in Google Classroom now gives teachers AI-generated summaries of how students have used the notebooks assigned to them. At the same time, administrators can control external sharing in more detail.
What's smart
With the Sites export, you don't have to copy anything manually. The draft in Google Sites is fully interactive and can be edited, expanded with more content, published and shared like any other Sites website. Chrome Unboxed describes it as a one-click solution that makes manual copying and third-party workarounds unnecessary.
In Classroom, the summaries show common themes among students: questions, strengths and areas where support is needed. Teachers can also view individual students' chat transcripts. That gives a quick overview without having to read conversation by conversation.
For administrators, there are new, more granular sharing settings in the Admin console. These include Trusted Domains, which enable collaboration across domains once they are designated. External sharing is off by default and can be configured at the domain, organizational unit and group level.
Cheaper or better?
Google has not said whether it charges separately for the Sites export, and the sources mention no price for the Classroom features either. This is a practical improvement: a process that previously required copying or extra tools is now consolidated in one place. The Sites export requires no new administrator control. The user must have Google Sites turned on and be allowed to create and edit websites, and the exported websites follow the organization's existing rules for Sites and Drive.
The Classroom summaries may take a few days to become visible to everyone. The new sharing settings are available immediately. The Classroom features apply only to Google Workspace for Education (Education Fundamentals, Standard and Plus). Teachers and students must be in groups or organizational units where Gemini Notebook is turned on, and Gemini LTI users will get access in the coming weeks.
Who it's good for
The Sites export is good for anyone who wants to quickly share a small app or tool as a website, for example an employee who has built a calculator or an overview in Gemini and wants to give colleagues access. Because the draft is private, you can adjust it before publishing.
The Classroom updates are for teachers who want to see where the class runs into problems, and for school IT managers who need to keep track of who may share with whom outside the domain.
Google mentions no language or regional restrictions for the Sites export. For the Classroom features, the announcement does not make clear whether they are available in Denmark or the EU.
As always with Google, note that its data processing agreements are enormously complicated, and it can be very difficult for a school or municipality to know where your data ends up if you use Classroom. There are far better tools in Europe with proper control over data security.
