The Grok chatbot can now make phone calls for you. It can call businesses in the US on the user's behalf, and according to Teslarati, the feature was announced on October 25, 2026. According to creator Peter Yang, all users could call American businesses starting November 3. According to 247WallSt, it was Elon Musk who announced it on X.
How it works
According to Teslarati, the bot introduces itself as a virtual assistant, transcribes the call as it goes and produces a summary afterward. It can navigate phone menus of the "press 1 for ..." type, and it can negotiate on the user's behalf.
According to 247WallSt, Grok can also wait on hold, press keys and be transferred to other people. The user can watch the conversation unfold without taking part.
In one user's example, the bot paused to get the user's approval before accepting the final terms. If it is missing information, the user can follow a live transcript of the conversation and type answers to it.
Users' examples
Teslarati cites several accounts from users. A Comcast bill was reportedly cut from $84 to $45 a month on a faster plan after a call of about 25 minutes, according to the user's own video. A 51-minute call to Verizon Fios reportedly resulted in a $100 gift card. And another user got a same-day appointment with a pediatrician. These are the users' own stories, and they have not been verified.
Limits and rules
The feature works only with US phone numbers and has weekly usage limits that depend on which subscription you have. According to Teslarati, the terms require the bot to disclose that it is an AI. Marketing, mass calling and impersonation are prohibited.
Teslarati also reports that one user said an employee refused to cancel a subscription once it became clear that an AI was on the phone.
Battle over voice agents
According to 247WallSt, the move is an attempt to pit xAI against voice agent platforms from OpenAI and ElevenLabs. The sources do not say whether the feature will come to Denmark.
