Claude Tag: Anthropic's AI colleague for Slack channels
AI-generated and checked against the sources listed below.
Anthropic has launched Claude Tag in beta, where you tag @Claude in a Slack channel and the AI solves tasks in the background for the whole team.

What is new
Anthropic has launched Claude Tag, a new way to use the AI assistant Claude directly in Slack. You add @Claude to a channel and tag it, just as you would tag a colleague. Claude breaks the task into smaller steps, uses the tools and data it has access to, and finally replies in a thread with the result.
The big difference from the old Claude app for Slack is that Claude is now shared. There is one Claude per channel, and everyone in the channel can see what it is doing. Before, it was more of a private helper. Claude Tag runs on Anthropic's Opus 4.8 model. The old "Claude in Slack" app is being replaced, and the switch happens within 30 days.
The service is in beta and can be used now by Claude Team and Claude Enterprise customers. Anthropic says it will be expanded to more later.
What is clever
Claude works asynchronously. That means you can give it a task and carry on with other things while it works in the background. It can also schedule tasks and follow a project over a long period.
Claude remembers relevant information from the channels it is in, so the team does not have to explain everything from scratch every time. There is also an optional "ambient" mode, where Claude itself flags relevant information and follows up on tasks that have stalled.
For the IT department, there is control: administrators choose which tools and data each channel has access to. Each channel gets its own Claude identity with limited memory, and data from private channels is kept separate. There is also an activity log and an overview of tasks.
Cheaper or better?
Claude Tag has no fixed price per user. According to independent media, it is billed by usage (tokens, meaning pieces of text the AI reads and writes), on top of the Claude subscription you already have. Administrators can set a usage cap for the whole company and for each channel. Anthropic has not published a per-token price for Claude Tag. The price in Danish kroner has not been stated.
At launch, qualifying organizations get introductory credits. The amounts have not been confirmed by Anthropic, but according to coverage online they are $25,000 for Enterprise and $2,500 for Team organizations with at least ten seats.
I have not been able to find a direct comparison with competitors' Slack solutions in the sources, so it is too early to say whether it is cheaper. Anthropic itself says that 65 percent of the code on the company's product team is written by the internal version of Claude Tag. That is a figure from the company itself and not an independent measurement.
What it is good at
Claude Tag is built for teams that already live in Slack. Anthropic mentions coding and debugging, but also tasks outside the developer team such as tracking key metrics and handling support cases.
In practice, a support channel can have Claude wrap up cases, and a product team can ask it to investigate a bug and come back with a proposal. It is especially useful where many people need the same knowledge.
Individuals and small businesses without a Team or Enterprise subscription cannot use it yet. Nor has it been stated when it will come to Denmark and the EU on special terms, so check with your IT department.
