Gemini Notebook can now talk with you about your notes

Google Notebook, which gathers your documents and notes, is getting new features. You can now talk to your notebooks by voice in almost 100 languages and record audio notes directly in the mobile app.

Google has updated Gemini Notebook, the tool that gathers your documents, PDF files and notes in a notebook and lets an AI answer based on exactly that material. The biggest news is that you can now talk to your notebook by voice in the mobile app, almost like a phone call. You can ask questions, interrupt along the way and get answers based on the sources you've added yourself. The feature supports almost 100 languages.
At the same time, the mobile app gets a built-in audio recorder. It's intended, for example, for recording a lecture or a meeting, after which the recording is added directly as a source in the notebook that you can quote from and ask questions about afterward. The audio recorder works only in English for now.
Google is also adding short video overviews of about a minute that summarize the content of a notebook with graphics and narration, available in more than 80 languages. And more types of quiz questions are coming, such as short answer and fill-in-the-blank, aimed at students who use the tool to study for exams.
The voice feature rolls out first to subscribers on the most expensive plan, Google AI Ultra, and will come to Pro subscribers later. The other new features are expected to reach all users over the coming weeks.
Free year for students
If you're a student, there's also financial news to look out for. Google is offering a free year of Google AI Plus in more than 140 countries, including expanded limits on how much you can use the tools. The offer can be redeemed until the end of 2026, so it's worth checking in the Google AI app whether you're a student who can take advantage of it before the deadline runs out.
Delays in Denmark
For Danish users, it's worth noting that several new Gemini features have recently been held back in the EU because of rules for artificial intelligence. It's therefore not certain that all the new features will land in Denmark as quickly as elsewhere.
What it means for you
If you use Gemini Notebook for study or work, you'll soon be able to talk directly with your notes in the mobile app and record meetings or lectures as sources. If you're a student, you should check the Google AI app for the free year of Google AI Plus before it expires at the end of 2026. If you don't have the most expensive Ultra plan, you'll have to wait a while for the voice feature, and as a Danish user you may find that the new features arrive later than in other countries.
