iOS 27 has landed: Siri (finally) gets its big makeover
AI-generated and checked against the sources listed below.
Apple is rolling out iOS 27, and Siri has received a sweeping update with a new design and a language model developed together with Google. Only the iPhone 15 Pro and newer get the full AI features; the rest get the update without the new Siri boost.

Apple has started sending iOS 27 out to iPhones today, and the big news is a new Siri.
Siri has a new look, can understand what's happening on your screen, and now draws on a language model developed in collaboration with Google (the same family as Gemini). It's a significant step up from the Siri most people know.
The update has been a long time coming. Apple originally promised the new Siri for iOS 18 back in 2024, but it was postponed because of technical reliability problems. So there's been plenty of time to look forward to it, or to get used to waiting.
Here's the important detail: only owners of an iPhone 15 Pro or newer get the full AI experience. If you have a regular iPhone 15 or an older model, you get the update, but not the new AI features in Siri.
If you have a Pro model from the 15 onward, you can safely update and try the new Siri: there's no reason to wait. If you have an older or non-Pro model, there's nothing to act on right now; you'll just get the standard update. The only time to pay attention is if you're considering a new iPhone and want AI Siri included: then a Pro model from the 15 onward is your minimum.
What it means for you
If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, you can update now and get the new Siri right away. If you have an older or non-Pro model, you'll just get the regular update without the AI boost. If you're about to buy a new iPhone and want the smart Siri, go for a Pro model from the 15 onward.
