Meta launches paid AI subscription for Facebook and Instagram

Meta has launched the Meta One subscription, which gives expanded access to AI images, AI video and other AI features on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp for a fee.

Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has launched a new paid subscription called Meta One. The subscription gives access to more of Meta's AI features across the three apps.
For individuals, there are two tiers: Core at $7.99 a month and Premium at $19.99 a month. Both plans give expanded access to the AI tools Muse Image and Muse Video, which can create images and videos from a text description, as well as the Restyle feature, which can edit Instagram Stories with AI.
Meta is also launching a range of more expensive subscriptions for businesses and content creators, called Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max, which among other things give access to Meta's Business Agent, an AI feature for customer contact, as well as extra analytics tools.
At the same time, Meta has opened the door for AI agents such as Claude, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT to help companies set up their WhatsApp Business account. This happens through a technical solution, a so-called MCP server, which makes it possible for an AI agent to create the account, verify phone numbers and make message templates on its own. That can make it easier for smaller companies to get started using WhatsApp for customer service without having to navigate several technical tools themselves.
Meta has not yet said exactly which countries the subscription is rolling out in, saying only that access and usage limits may vary from country to country. It is therefore unknown whether and when Meta One will come to Denmark.
The news is nonetheless interesting for Danish users and companies to keep an eye on, because it shows where Meta is heading: AI features are increasingly becoming something you pay extra for, rather than something that comes free with the social networks most people already use.
What it means for you
If you use Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp a lot for AI images or AI video, a subscription could give you more to work with. If you have a smaller company, the new AI agents can make it easier to set up WhatsApp Business for customer service. Right now, you can just keep an eye on whether Meta One comes to Denmark before you consider paying for it.
