Microsoft 365 Copilot is getting the option to use Anthropic's Claude model instead of OpenAI on selected features, including the Researcher agent. In the EU and the UK, it must first be turned on by the company's IT department.

Microsoft has quietly opened the door for Microsoft 365 Copilot to use Anthropic's Claude model instead of OpenAI's on specific features, especially the Researcher agent.
Users can switch between the models directly in Copilot Chat if the feature is enabled.
In the EU and the UK, it's turned off by default. It's up to the company's IT administrator to turn it on in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
For private users in Denmark, this doesn't change anything right now: you don't need to do anything.
For companies: if you use Copilot and are curious whether Claude gives better answers for your tasks, it may be worth asking the IT department to look into it. There's no need to hurry: test calmly when it suits you, and watch whether Microsoft expands the available features beyond the Researcher agent.
What it means for you
If you're a private Copilot user, you don't need to do anything right now. If you work at a company, it may be worth asking the IT department to look into whether Claude gives better answers for your tasks, especially when you use the Researcher agent. It's not urgent: you can test calmly when it suits you and see whether Microsoft expands to more features later.
