Google rounds up AI advances in health, weather and language
AI-generated and checked against the sources listed below.
Google says its AI now understands more than 300 languages, covering 86% of the world's population, and is also showing new AI tools for weather forecasting, disease research and disaster warnings. For most Danes it doesn't change everyday life right now, but it points to where AI is heading behind the scenes.

Google has gathered a number of AI advances in a post, highlighting how far the technology has come across language, health and weather forecasting.
The most tangible figure: Google's AI now supports more than 300 languages, spoken by 7 billion people, about 86% of the world's population. That's relevant because over time it may be felt directly in translation and search, including for Danish users.
On the health front, Google has published AlphaGenome Atlas, a map of all 9 billion possible single-letter changes in the human genome. The technology is also being used to study breast cancer, tuberculosis and diabetes.
On the weather front, WeatherNext 3 has launched, according to Google its most accurate global weather model to date. On top of that comes the Planetary Prediction Engine, which is meant to predict disease outbreaks and natural disasters before they strike.
Google also mentions that AI is being used to make education more accessible through personalized learning and better translation tools.
It's worth noting that the announcement comes at a time of great concern about AI's risks, including warnings about attempts to misuse AI for dangerous purposes. Here, Google chooses to focus on the positive applications, which also serves as good publicity for the company itself.
For ordinary users and companies, there's no reason to act now. This is research and infrastructure, not new features you can start using tomorrow. Instead, keep an eye on whether the expanded language support eventually shows up in the Google tools you already use.
